Fronius offers the Wattpilot, an affordable and compact wallbox capable of charging your electric vehicle with PV surplus from your solar system. One of its key features is the automatic phase switching capability, which we also support.

The Wattpilot connects to our app via OCPP.

Preparation

To connect the Wattpilot to our system, you must enable the wallbox's OCPP backend.

Before starting the setup, ensure your wallbox is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and that you have installed the latest firmware updates.

To configure the OCPP backend, you need access via the Solar.Wattpilot App. The advantage of the OCPP connection is that the wallbox transmits data to us. It remains connected to the Fronius Server in parallel and can still be controlled via the Solar.Wattpilot App.

Setup

1. Add a new wallbox in our app and select the Wattpilot

2. When adding the wallbox in our app, your individual OCPP-URL will be displayed in the wallbox menu.

3. Copy the OCPP-URL and enter it into the Wattpilot

4. To do this, open the Solar.Wattpilot App and go to the [Internet] menu.

4. Tap on [OCPP].

5. Paste the OCPP-URL into the [OCPP Server-URL] field and enable [Enable OCPP 1.6] using the toggle switch. Then, tap Save in the top right corner to save your settings.

🚧If you are using the web interface for setup, you must adjust the URL. Replace ws:// with wss:// and append "/anyName" to the end of the link. The URL must follow this format: wss://cleverpv-ocpp.azurewebsites.net/ocpp/XXXXXX/anyName XXXXXX is a placeholder and is included in your personal URL. The name must not contain any underscores "_" or spaces " ".

6. Return to our app; the Fronius wallbox will appear as an OCPP Connector. Accept the terms and click [Save].

7. Restart the wallbox.

8. Complete the setup.

In some cases, the wallbox may appear as offline after setup; please wait a moment or refresh the page to update the status.

You can now control your wallbox automatically and charge your car with low-cost solar power!
