Objective:
You want to consume as much of your own electricity as possible before it is exported to the grid. If you are affected by a grid feed-in limit and want to avoid throttling your PV system, please take a closer look at our recommended settings.
Prerequisites:
- You have a PV system including battery storage, and our app detects both.
- You have added as many controllable loads as possible in the app.
Settings:
Go to the device overview in our app. Once you have added all your devices, we recommend the following settings:
-
Meter:
Your inverter transmits the values for household consumption, grid import, and production to us.
Grid feed-in buffer: 500 Watts -
Battery storage:
In the second tile, you can see the current state of charge as well as the charge and discharge power of your battery storage.
Minimum state of charge: 75%-80%
Smart control – switch: Turn on
Power value in Watts: This should be approximately 20% of your battery storage capacity.
Examples:- For a battery storage with 5 kWh capacity, enter 1000 Watts.
- For a battery storage with 10 kWh capacity, use 2000 Watts.
- For a battery storage with 15 kWh capacity, use 3000 Watts accordingly.
-
Smart control:
Activate smart control for your controllable loads in our app so that we can manage your devices and maximize your self-consumption.
If you have a battery storage system for which we support AI battery management, and you use a dynamic tariff for your remaining electricity, you are welcome to activate the AI battery management. A detailed functional description of the AI battery management can be found in a separate article in the help section.
Result:
With these settings, we begin operating your controllable loads early in the day, in parallel with charging your battery storage. This allows you to use your generated electricity early in the day. Until the set minimum state of charge is reached, the app will not use the entered minimum charging power plus the grid feed-in buffer for control. Once the minimum state of charge is reached, self-consumption will increase further, as only the grid feed-in buffer is excluded from use. Thanks to the grid feed-in buffer of 500 Watts, your battery storage will still continue to charge and will generally reach a significantly higher state of charge by the evening.
Tip:
You can also optimize the smart control of your devices using the "Schedule" function for specific times. For example, if you have an immersion heater, you could set its smart control to start daily only from 11:00 AM and switch it off at 6:00 PM with another signal. This would ensure that this load is controlled primarily during midday, provided there is sufficient PV surplus.
